We know that in an ideal world you, as a creative designer, want to design your ad without having to tiptoe around publisher constraints, technology vendor constraints, Internet constraints. Atlas' approach to creative authoring releases you from some of the more cumbersome requirements out there. While we can't control what publishers dictate and can't give everyone a broadband connection, we can do our part. And we think it goes a long way to opening up all sorts of doors on creativity.
It should go without saying, but we'll say it anyway: our technology can handle ANY type of ad format your best Flash designers can throw at us. You aren't limited to templates when you decide to use Atlas Rich Media. (Sure we'll offer you some templates to speed up standard executions—but you can choose to use them or not.)
There are, however, critical times in which templates act as a straight jacket. If a template approach prevents you from designing an ad that floats, resolves, and expands (all within a single .swf file), Atlas won't. If you want the expanding part of an ad to explode, dissolve, enter from the side, Atlas won't stop you. Micro-sites, instant messaging within an ad? Go crazy.
In fact, our approach is so flexible that you can start authoring now without a spec, knowing that you can easily "retro-fit" your ad to be served and tracked by Atlas without having to break up files or create additional action scripting. If you can author it, we can serve it.
